THE PHANTOM
OF THE OPERA

Gastón Louis Alfred Leroux was born in Paris, on May 6, 1868, and died in Nice, on April 15, 1927). He has gone down in the history of literature as one of the pioneers of mystery literature. Although he practiced as a lawyer for three years, he soon discovered that his true calling was to write and he devoted himself to it body and soul. Theater critic, journalist (as a reporter he followed the ups and downs of the Russian Revolution and interviewed some of the most dangerous criminals of his time) and above all a writer. Leroux is world famous for his novel "The Phantom of the Opera" whose story continues to be premiered in theaters today. Today Leroux occupies a place of honor among French authors of all times.
